Odyssey

White Hot OG

Hot List Gold 2023

Our Review:

WHAT IT DOES: When this throwback line was introduced two years ago, it featured the trademark original urethane insert, some familiar heads and some modern tweaks. However, in this newest version, Odyssey has simplified the shaft and head and put all of the attention on the two-decade-old face insert, which redefined how putters should feel with a combination of softness and resiliency.

WHY WE LIKE IT: No one travels back in time in search of greater complexity. The polymers behind the White Hot insert were an idea that never knew how good it was and didn’t much care because being perfect didn’t require an explanation. Same with the three mallet models in this line: Rossie, 2-Ball and No. 7. We need some convincing if any other mallet shapes are required. Read more>>>

Which One's For Me?
Rossie DB
This traditional clamshell mallet features heel and toe weighting and three aiming lines to frame the ball. The double-bend shaft makes for a face-balanced design that works best with straight back and straight through strokes.
Rossie S
Built on the Rossie clamshell frame, it features a short slant neck to give it toe hang. That makes it work well with arcing strokes that have some face rotation.
2-Ball
The classic aiming feature mallet with two white circles, it use a double-bend shaft for a face-balanced setup. This works best for straight back, straight through strokes.
#7
This parallel wing mallet features two arms that frame the ball. This model uses a double bend shaft for a face-balanced setup. This works best for straight back, straight through strokes.
#7S
Built on the parallel-wing Seven platform, it uses a slant neck for a toe-hang setup. This works best with an arcing stroke.

Player Comments
Low-Handicapper
"Clean traditional look. Had a very soft, but responsive feel. Good clubface to ball interaction. The ball jumps off the face. Easy to put down, swing and you'll get the ball to the hole."
Handicap, +4
Medium-Handicapper
"That #7 is just so cool looking. Just the right size. Compact but not too small. Three lines to align the ball. Insert gives a nice, soft feel. Ball rolls true and consistent every time. Even if you hit a bit off center, you don't lose line or a whole lot of distance. Don't feel like you have to give it a lot of juice on longer putts."
Handicap, 9
High-Handicapper
“The insert has cushion without hanging onto the ball. A pleasing, soft sound at impact. Smaller dimensions are effective.”
