Jon Rahm reveals Augusta National's super strict rules for wearing the green jacket

April 20, 2023

Most golf fans are well aware that the only person allowed to wear Augusta National's green jacket away from the club is the reigning Masters champ. But as Jon Rahm, the current man holding down that lofty spot, revealed on Wednesday, the rules don't end there when it comes to this coveted garment.

Appearing on this week's Subpar podcast, Rahm detailed some of the restrictions regarding wearing the green jacket off property.

"I don't know all the rules. There's a dress code that comes with it," Rahm said. "It's complicated. The jacket can't have a public appearance without them knowing. They have to give approval for everything."

According to Rahm, that included his podcast appearance. He also said he had to sign some "documents" (Talk about making things official!), and that you can't wear the jacket with casual clothes, but have to be in at least golf attire. But wait! There's more!

"I can't be photographed having alcohol with the jacket," Rahm said. "It just goes on and on and on." Here's the clip from Rahm's conversation with hosts Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz:

Again, as we've seen through the years, they don't mess around at Augusta National. And, as many people have found out the hard way, you do NOT want to break the rules there.
